Vanilla Extract

Decided to make my very own vanilla extract after seeing most of my baking friends made their own too. Easy to make but have to wait for at least 6 months later before I can use.




















Ingredients:

1 Litre Meyer's Rum
10 Vanilla Pods (Bought from PH) - Can put more for stronger taste.

Method:
  1. Pour out rum into a glass bottle.
  2. Slice the centre of the vanilla pod and put into the bottle of rum.
  3. Store in a cool place.
  4. Shake the bottle every 2 to 3 days.

Alternative, you can also take out the vanilla beans from the pod and use it directly for baking or put them into a jar of confectionary sugar.
